Top Pickleball Courts in Denver: Where to Play in 2026
Share
Denver players have one excuse nobody else gets. When a lob sails long, it was the altitude. Not the swing, not the nerves, the altitude. Add 300 or so days of sunshine and mountains in the background of every rally, and it is no wonder the Mile High City has gone all in on pickleball.

Whether you just moved here, just picked up a paddle or just want a new home court, here are the best pickleball courts in Denver, sorted by the kind of day you want to have.
Free Public Courts: Where the Regulars Play
Denver Parks and Recreation runs free outdoor courts across the city. They are drop in only, first come first served, and pickleball is not allowed on the tennis courts, so stick to the courts lined for the game.

- Huston Lake Park (Southwest Denver): four dedicated courts with permanent nets, right between the tennis courts and the lake.
- Bear Valley Park (Southwest Denver): four dedicated courts next to a creek, with picnic spots and trails nearby for the post game walk.
- Skyland Park (Northeast Denver): four courts with permanent lines and nets. No reservations, just show up.
- Martin Luther King Jr. Park (Northeast Denver): four dedicated courts tucked between the basketball and tennis courts.
- Berkeley Park (Northwest Denver): a busy group of courts with a friendly morning crowd.
- Eisenhower Park (South Denver): four lighted courts with a twist. It is a quiet court pilot, so only the foam quiet ball is allowed. You can check one out at the rec center next door. Bring your soft hands.
Gates Tennis Center: Book It and Skip the Wait

- Gates Tennis Center (near Cherry Creek): a dozen dedicated, lighted pickleball courts next to the tennis courts. No membership or residency needed. Book a court online for a small fee, or join one of the many weekly open play and social sessions. If you only try one public spot in Denver, start here.
Indoor Rec Centers: For Snow Days and Hot Afternoons
Denver weather can flip from sunshine to snow in a single afternoon. When it does, the city's rec centers keep the game going indoors. Pickleball hours are listed on each center's gym schedule, and a rec membership or day pass gets you in.
- Barnum Recreation Center (West Denver): six indoor courts, one of the biggest city setups.
- Central Park Recreation Center (Central Park neighborhood): regular morning open play on weekdays.
- Eisenhower Recreation Center (South Denver): indoor wood courts right next to the quiet courts outside.
- Harvard Gulch, Harvey Park, Montclair and more: over a dozen city rec centers run pickleball, so there is likely one near you.
Schedules change by season, so check the gym schedule before you go.
Indoor Clubs: Climate Control and Serious Play
- Mile Hi City Pickleball (Central Park neighborhood): 11 indoor courts near I 70 and Havana, open daily with drop in play.
- The Picklr Cherry Creek South (Southeast Denver): 11 indoor courts with leagues, clinics and drop in windows.
- Doubles Club (RiNo): six premium indoor courts on Larimer Street with open play, leagues and lessons, open late every day.
- Club Volo SoBo (South Broadway): five indoor courts with rentals, leagues and pickup play, no membership needed.
- 3rd Shot Pickleball (Wheat Ridge): 13 indoor courts, replay cameras, a pro shop and beer on tap. About 20 minutes from downtown and worth the drive.
Social Spots: Pickleball Plus a Plan for After
Some days the game is the main event. Other days it is the excuse to hang out.
- MoodSwing (Northeast Denver): six indoor and six covered outdoor courts, plus brick oven pizza, cocktails and live music. Rain, shine or snow.
- Chicken N Pickle (Thornton): indoor courts, a full restaurant, a rooftop patio and yard games. Great for groups and families.
- Day trip idea: the outdoor courts at Simms Street Recreation Center in the west suburbs are one of the largest outdoor pickleball setups in Colorado, with mountain views on every side.
A Few Tips Before You Go

- Drink more water than you think: the air is dry at a mile high and you will feel it by game three
- Wear sunscreen, even in October: the sun is stronger up here, cloudy or not
- Expect a livelier ball: thinner air means the ball travels a bit farther, so ease off on deep drives until you adjust
- Learn the paddle rack: at busy parks, players line up paddles to claim the next game. Add yours and wait your turn
- Pack a layer: a sunny morning session can turn into a chilly evening one fast
